Whale House
Student project, ETSAM, Madrid, 2008
During the hot daytime of Dubai, the Whale House fills its water tank and drowns most of its volume in the sea, to regulate its inner temperature. During the night, water is pumped out of the tank and the house rises to renovate the air and cool itself. This housing prototype made out of carbon fiber fixes its position as it is connected to a circular structure linked to the seabed through cables. This outer ring also works as a flower that closes its petals during the daytime to shade the access deck and during the night opens to provide with air to the interior spaces of the house.
